TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2012

Well the rain finally stopped late morning.  It poured all night, and we had thunder storms.  No wind though.

Today we took a ride to Baddeck, NS.  We stopped at the Visitor's Centre and got a map.  There was a large cruise ship in the harbor that had arrived last evening from France.  It stayed until 3:30 p.m. and was on its way.

We took a walk along the boardwalk and there were some wonderful sites:

Walking along the boardwalk we came upon Mabel and Alexander Graham Bell just relaxing and watching the boats sail in and out of the harbor.  Here is Steve talking to them.

Baddeck is where Alexander Graham Bell lived a great part of his life. We went to the museum and was amazed at all the inventions he worked on other than the telephone. Bell like to invent things and then when they worked we went on to invent something else.

THIS IS THE SILVER DART DESIGNED BY BELL AND HIS GROUP.
THE FIRST CANADIAN FLIGHT.

One of the more interesting p;iece of equipment (below) is the photophone.  This is a working telephone without wires.  It transmitted speech over light waves.

BELL HAD AN OFFICE WHEREEVER HE WAS BECAUSE HE WOULD WORK LATE INTO THE NIGHT.

IN 1918 AFTER MUCH BUILDING AND REBUILDING THE HD-4 (HYDROFOIL 4) WAS LAUNCHED.  IT WENT 113 KM (65 MPH).
